Visiting Nurses Association celebrates 100th anniversary

Most people dread the cold and flu season, but the Visiting Nurses Association appreciates it because it’s the reason the organization was founded 100 years ago.
Employees celebrated the major milestone today.
Since it was founded in 1910, VNA has cared for tuberculosis and polio patients, started a home health aid program, and got licensed to care for terminally ill patients.
“If you’re sick where do you want to be? You want to be in your home with the smell of your own covers, your pillow, your easy chair, not the walls of a hospital or a hospital bed,” Visiting Nurses Association Executive Director Denise Schrader said.
About 150 people work for the Visiting Nurses Association, including nurses, physical therapists, and home care aids.Read Full Article
